Position: Naval Architect

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture & Ship Building (Mandatory).
  • Master’s Degree in Naval Architecture (Preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of overall professional experience.
  • Experience in Naval Architecture design projects, including vessel design, stability analysis, structural design, and marine systems.
  • Mandatory experience of at least one project involving the design of a river vessel.
  • Experience in Inland Water Transport (IWT), Ports, Marine, Ferry, Passenger Vessel, or Water Metro projects will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop river vessels, ferries, passenger boats, and other marine craft.
  • Prepare general arrangement drawings, hull form designs, structural layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Perform stability analysis, hydrostatic and hydrodynamic calculations, resistance and propulsion assessments, and structural evaluations.
  • Ensure vessel designs comply with applicable classification society rules, statutory regulations, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, shipyards, clients, and regulatory authorities throughout the design process.
  • Provide technical support during vessel construction, testing, commissioning, and sea/river trials.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong knowledge of naval architecture principles, ship design, stability, and marine engineering.
  • Experience with naval architecture software such as Maxsurf, Rhino, AutoCAD, ANSYS, ShipConstructor, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with classification society rules (e.g., IRS, DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register) and relevant maritime regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, technical reporting, and project coordination skills.
  • Experience in river vessel design, Inland Water Transport (IWT), ferry systems, water metro, and marine infrastructure projects will be highly preferred.
